Control Volume Stenosis Analysis





This article is pitched at engineering level; for clinicians who want to understand the control volume approach for the conservation of mass, momentum, and energy as applied to stenosis flow.  


The geometry of this conduit is rather simplistic such that the concepts of axial location and cross-sectional area are readily envisioned and defined. However the concepts of flow rate and average velocity can also be defined with mathematical rigor for more general circumstances and are relegated to a subsequent page.
